A Look Back at Our Summer 2024 Cultural Events

This past summer, Florida House hosted a series of cultural events that captured the spirit and legacy of Florida. We were thrilled to celebrate our state’s unique heritage while honoring iconic figures and achievements that make Florida so special.

On August 29th, we marked Jimmy Buffett Day with our event, Margaritaville on the Hill. In a memorable celebration, we celebrated the dedication of Highway A-1A in his honor and paid tribute to the enduring influence of Jimmy Buffett on Florida’s music, culture, and lifestyle. In collaboration with Margaritaville Resort Orlando, we organized a giveaway for a weekend getaway, offering guests the chance to experience a slice of Margaritaville magic firsthand. The event was so popular that Fox5DC news heard about it, and did a five minute feature the morning of the event!

Continuing our summer celebration of Florida’s accomplishments, we hosted the Olympic Soiree to highlight Florida’s impressive representation of Olympic athletes at the Paris 2024 Games. We were honored to welcome a genuine Florida Olympian, Old Dominion basketball coach Delisha Milton Jones, whose inspiring presence added energy and authenticity to the event. Guests also enjoyed seeing a real torch carried at the Atlanta Olympics, sparking conversations about athletic excellence and Florida’s proud sporting tradition.

Following the success of Margaritaville on the Hill and the Olympic Soirée, Florida House remains committed to showcasing the Sunshine State’s culture, history, and impact. Be sure to follow our social media channels for updates on upcoming events as we continue to share the best of Florida’s culture and heritage on Capitol Hill.
