1840 Old Florida Map
Rhea Chiles, wife of U.S. Senator and Governor Lawton Chiles, was a grand Floridian in her own right. Many are unaware that Rhea was quite an accomplished painter. In the 1960’s Rhea painted an “1840 Old Florida Map” for longtime friend Judge Richard Bronson to hang in his chambers. After the judge retired, the painting went missing, but it was discovered at an estate sale in Lakeland.
