1840 Old Florida Map
Rhea Chiles, wife of U.S. Senator and Governor Lawton Chiles, was a grand Floridian in her own right. Many are unaware that Rhea was quite an accomplished painter. In the 1960’s Rhea painted an “1840 Old Florida Map” for longtime friend Judge Richard Bronson to hang in his chambers. After the judge retired, the painting went missing, but it was discovered at an estate sale in Lakeland.
In Mrs. Chiles’ honor, the 1840 Old Florida Map is being reproduced to benefit Florida House. The giclée reproductions come in two sizes and are beautiful either gallery wrapped or framed. The maps are a striking piece of art for your home, beach or mountain house or business office.
All profits from the sale of the giclées will be placed in the Rhea Chiles Building Fund at Florida House. The Building Fund continues Mrs. Chiles’ legacy of maintaining Florida House for future generations. A portion of the purchase price is tax deductible and you will receive an official letter for your tax files.
